One can never anticipate, expect or even give a thought how his/her life can take twists and turns at any point of time.
Well ! This unstated law is applicable to everyone. No one including POTUS or LOTUS or kim Khardiashan or even KRK could escape this unstated 4th important law that governs life. Off course the 1st 3 laws we learned in 7th grade for passing also governs the life, but in different form only because of those 3 laws we were able to pass physics and continue our education for remaining part of our life.
I am not a scholar in Philosophy, So definitely I cannot write a blog about Life After Death or Life Before Death. If you ask me I am a person who belong to this peculiar category, the category which comprises of people Who wanted to become Doctor in 5th, Pilot in 6th, Physiotherapist in 7th and later they will be settled for engineer. I belong to that chunk of group. I became an engineer not because I liked it rather I had no options or knew any other career other than software engineer at that point of time.
So after a deep thought I decided to name the blog as "The Wrong Turn". After sometime my inner voice spoke to me and said you can use only singular subject called "The Wrong Turn" when you have encountered a single disaster. So the inner voice advised me to name it as "Wrong Turns" to reiterate the fact every turn I took was due to 1 wrong turn and because of that 1 wrong turn serious of wrong turns happened consequently wrong turns became part of my life similar to a chain reaction in fission process.
So I planned to settle with the title " The Wrong Turns", I got a message from my philosophical friend who send me a Whats-app message "Namakku vayiru rombina aporam sapadra oru idli kuda mathavanodathu"
After reading the message I gave a thought and said to myself "I am getting noodles, soup, Rava dosa and coffee for my daily meals, So I concluded the topic should not be "Wrong Turns" rather it should be "Bad Turn"
Again, I got a Whats app message from the same philosophical friend. This time I decided not to risk myself I did not open the message fearing about his dose of communism. I settled for the topic "U turn"
U turn? Why did I select this weird topic? Definitely I am not a Congoon, I am not a supporter of Congress for sure. Then why did I choose Ajay Makens book topic "U Turn Modi Sarkar". On a lighter note Narendra Modi government is taking some bold steps and at least making some move. Mr. Maken (Spokesperson of Congress and The Delhi CM candidate) has forgotten that UPA government did not even take a step from 10 Janpath (Official residence of Sonia Gandhi).
So definitely my blog topic is not "U Turn"
At last I decided to concentrate on the stuff inside the blog or subject of the blog rather than the topic.
Ok! Topic !! Wait! What am I doing??Am I writting a political blog? No! enough of politics. Already, my friends are screaming in and out for spamming their FB wall with my Pro-BJP updates.
So for time being I decided to give a break to politics and write something different.
Unfortunately, I do not know anything other than Indian politics. I do not say I am similar to strategic expert Yogendra Yadav, Who succesfully predicted Kejrivels historic victory in Varnasi but I am coming to say my knowledge in other sectors are as bad as Yogandra Yadavs prediction. It neither stands near the reality nor even appeases with peoples thought
Ok? If not politics, Why not on science?
I know nothing about science (Chlorophyll, Dolly, Gods particles, Polonium 210 these were some of the terms I happened to hear in the recent past)
Ok! If not on science, Why not about phones and Apps? Again I am a odd man out here. When you bloody invest 40k in an Apple product you cannot browse other phones and hurt yourself. After seeing What Xiomi and One plus has to offer for price less than half of Iphone, I decided not to browse about mobile phones.
I decided either to wait for 3 years or I wished that I get a girl friend who can potentially buy me a new IPhone for my next birthday. The former is possible at least after 2 or 3 years but the later is highly uncertain
So If not on phones, Why not about books?
Why not a brief note on Pax Indica? Why not on MadharBagan? At least I can prove to my people in TL that I am secular and voracious reader.
Ok, When I concluded I should go with books, I decided to write about Chethan Bhagat.
Oh wait Ram! A inner voice spoke to me again and conveyed its displeasure that "one should not write about Chethan Bhagat books, one should evolve day by day and one should read works that has a literary impact and impact on life" I asked what is literary impact?
The voice replied the literary impact must make you understand the questions asked by Karan Thapar in Devils Advocate, at least you can help the guests in understanding the question
Well! Then I decided I should read only Election 2014 - Rajdeep Sardersai or The Gin Drinkers - Sagarika Ghose both have excellent vocabulary stuff, one needs to sit with oxford dictionary to complete both the books.
After browsing for The Gin drinkers and Election, I came to know my inner voice is dirty and filthy. I made fun of my inner voice.
Silently I tried convincing my inner voice, the present lot of youth who are using Flipkart for buying novels were the 1 who first used to order CBS book even before it released. This man has made masses to read English.
Before my voice respond, I skipped books too
Finally What to write???
Ok, enough of bureaucracy, enough of CB, enough of journalists Why should I write about x, y or Z? Why cant I start with my life?
So What should I write?
About my crushes? Well, the lists never gonna end anytime soon.
Or should I pen my thoughts about missed opportunities?
Well, again the divisions are plenty in this segment.
a) Should I write about the missed opportunity to score centum in Maths? (It happened only once in my lifetime during my 10th standard, I am so proud of it at least my 10th standard teachers are remembering me as a studious chap the rest remember me as that irregular boy)
b) Should I write about my 12th standard Public exam Physics lab? I was given a tight slap by my Physics mam for not calculating the break in voltage of Zener diode with the values recorded in the record note during our practical lab.
c) Should I write about our 1st engineering exam preparation.
Ok ! Now I settled for this (The topic is done)
Yes! Its about our First year engineering exams.
There were 9 people preparing for 1st year engineering semester exams, I was the only person in the gang representing ECE department others were from mechanical engineering department. All the 9 prepared together for 6 out of 8 exams. One of my 12th standard tuition friend decided to test my 10th standard school classmate.
(I did 10th, 11th and 12th in different schools) In order to avoid conflicts and prevent myself from Dharma adi (thrashings) from the concerned friends, Lets name my engineering friend as P who also happens to be my tuition friends, lets name my 10th standard schoolmate as S.
S had lot of contacts in other departments that too especially with girls. In contrast P was known to all other people in other department as DON (Still I could not figure out why those idiots thought him as DON, Those idiots include lot of our 1st year staff). So its habit of P before even a class test or weekly test or semester to check with others preparations and milestones every half an hour.
So its was a First year non semester exam (1 semester exam covering both the semester paper). As usual he started checking with each and everyone about the status of our preparation. The next day we had Engineering Graphics, I had my exam along with EEE, FT and Civil departments on the next day morning, My other mechanical friends had exam on the next day afternoon. Ultimately I was left with 9 hours and my friends were left with close to 15 hours for preparation.
Before continuing further, you must know about my extraordinary drawing skills, In my 14 years of school education and 4 years of engineering all my record works were completed by either my Grandpa and Grandma (till 7th) and by my mother and sister (from 8th standard to 4th year of engineering). Myself and 2 of my friends were great source of inspiration for my sister to choose engineering. She candidly said before choosing engineering, "If Ram, Ravi and Srini anna could complete engineering without reaching on time to classes or without finishing records or without even caring for exams, anyone can complete engineering". After her engineering, she went on to add, "I always felt I could definitely meet someone as worse or even worse as Ram but I am wrong Ram is unique, nobody can substitute him as well as his friends in irregularities".
Well ! I have faced insults worse than this, I chose to forgive my sister for this insult.
Coming to the point, " I suck in drawing as much as Sanjay Jha sucks in The Newshour".
Given my credentials, you must by now got an idea how much I would have prepared for the exam.
Once I told my mother during initial days of engineering that "If there is
a subject that can stop your son from getting degree that would be Engineering Graphics".
Coming back to the plot, My ambitions were pretty clear, getting a pass mark in Engineering Graphics. In fact I had same ambitions for all other subjects except Computer Science
and English. Two exams in 1st year which I wrote with complete satisfaction were English and Computer Science,
I loved those paper for two reasons,
1. I loved those subjects as they were damn easy,
2. I love those 2 staff members for their affection and their trust they had in me.
I was fearing that I would flunk in Engineering Graphics for 3 reasons
1. I am bad at drawing
2. I am very bad at drawing
3. I am extremely bad at drawing
Keeping everything in mind, I gave my maximum for the preparation, so by 11 PM the previous night I completed all the chapters in the subject and I completed my 1st revision.
Scene 1: So P started asking some questions like :
how to draw a pentagon?
what is a top view?
What is a lateral view?
How to draw prism ?
We started visualizing it and in some cases we even drew it in a rough paper. All these time Mr. S was busy hearing songs in my LG DYNAMITE and Mr. Ps phone. Yes we started using multimedia phones during end of 1st year, a phone with mp3 player and 2 mega pixel camera.
Post Script: Those were the days (2006-2007), Tamil Nadu film industry saw more than 100s of films releasing that year. We did not leave even a single film, I sincerely doubt ARRS Muliplex used our money to construct a International school. Now they have this big International School (ARRS International School).
Its our habit to take a strategic break of 10 minutes every 2 hours, the break often extended to 25 or 30 minutes, during those breaks we used to hear June pona July kattre from Unnale Unnale, Karka karka from Vettayadu veliyadu and Yarro friendship version from Chennai 600028.
So even while writing these songs it takes me back to our preparation days.
Scene 2: We decided to break for tea, We had 1 pulsar and 2 splendors to carry 8 people. Mr. S did not choose to reply for Mr. Ps continuous invite for joining the tea. He was either so involved in the song or he did not choose to respond to him.
Scene 3 Mr. P pulled the headphone from is ear, and He found out that volume was not that high and he found S hearing to the song from Thavamai Thavamirindhu, song name is Unnai Charan adainthan
Scene 4: Mr. S decided to pretend as if nothing happened. P got pissed out and started enquiring about the preparations and Mr. S replied he has completed 3 revisions the day before with girls in college cafeteria.
Scene 5: My another friend, We can call him as Mr. G. He is also pretty famous among girls. He barged in and joined the conversation, Mr G asked S "You neither came to class nor completed the assignment, how did you complete 2 revisions?"
I barged in and said 3 revisions!
Another friend and cousin of mine, lets name him B, he joined in and said Screw your statistics!
Scene 6: Mr. S replied "girls gave me deep insight about Engineering Graphics they taught me entire EG in 2-3 days and I also studied with them during study holidays"
Scene 7: Mr. P pissed out and asked Mr. S to brief him about 5th unit.
Scene 8: Mr. S instead of briefing said that he did not study Pentagon alone (Drawing Pentagon was a basic chapter, definitely it was on our 2nd unit not 5th unit).
Everyone showed our back and started to laugh,
Scene 9: Mr. P without even controlling the laugh asked him, " OK! Help me with atleast Hexagon"
There are many ways you can piss of people 1 such way is laughing at a person even while replying or asking something. P always had this and is having this peculiar habit, Which pisses many people
Scene 10: Mr. S visibly pissed off and did not answer for that.
Scene 11: Mr. P went on to piss him even more by congratulated Mr. S for his 2 revisions, sorry sorry 3 revisions and started for tea.
Mr. S said "He is gonna sleep, As he was tired with revisions"
Scene 12: Mr. P hiding his laugh asked him to sleep inside rather than on roof top. We dispersed for tea (Our Spot was 3 km away from the host house. Our spot was Iyeangar tea shop in Hasthampatti
and the venue were we assemble for group study was P house).
Scene 13: In Iyengar Tea shop
Mr. S covered our tea gossip break and Mr. P started making fun of him to the core, not P alone We all joined him but Mr. P was going beyond the limit in pissing everyone.
Scene 14:
Sometime in July or August 2007
4 or 5 months after exam
1st year Results came, from P to G everyone failed in the exam Ps roll no was 87. We were also alphabetically sorted friends. When you sort out our group alphabetically Mr. P will be the 1st member and the last member of our group has "S" as his starting name. Literally my mechanical friends were placed in attendance from 87 to 95
For instance G's name also starts with S, but we call him as G for various other reasons.
My best friends name also starts with R but we call him as N for various other reasons
But "Ps" starting alphabet is also "P"
Mr. S's starting alphabet is also "S"
So everyone failed from 87 to 95 there was 1 guy who literally passed the exam.
I got 31 for 80, failed by 5 marks and my friends got similar marks 28, 30, 33 and Mr. P got 30 marks and to our surprise Mr. S passed the engineering graphics exams causing severe heart and stomach burns to us.
Out of 8 those who prepared for the exam Mr. S was the only 1 to pass, but he did not clear all other papers was another matter of fact.
So literally our masti exam preparation was blasted to pieces by Engineering Graphics results.
2 of my friends N and B lost their distinction in degree sheet just because they had Engineer Graphics arrear in 1st year. (Our distinction requirement is 75, Mr. N and B had more than 75 but had history of arrears in EG).
I cleared my EG in 3rd attempt, I flunked in my next attempt as well.
Moral: Do you even think there is anything that I should convey to world???
PS: I decided to name this blog as "How To Name it"
Thank you: Singer Chinmayee (Her blog name is "How to name it")
